Chapter: 1818

Okay, Im not worried then, Renee said, letting out a sigh of relief. The thing she had feared the most was facing Stefan if his family had been involved in the attack on the Everhearts.

Its getting late; go to bed early. As for that guy Keep him if he can help you, but dont rely on him too much. It might not end well. Quinton knew that he couldnt change Renees mind, so he just let her be.

So youre okay with us being together? You wont object anymore? Renee was overjoyed. She thought that she would never get Quintons approval since he and Stefan had been enemies in the past, but unexpectedly, her brother had allowed it.

Whats the use of me objecting to it? You have the final say, and Ive thought it through. He nearly killed me that year, and I nearly killed him after that. In the end, he saved me, so! I think we should just let bygones be bygones.

Quintons grudge had faded after his successful face recovery surgery, and after two near- death experiences, he realized that he was just lucky to be alive. Besides, he didnt want to stand in the way of his sisters happiness.

Thank you, Quinton. I feel better with your support, Renee said gratefully, her eyes watery. She had been so scared to tell him, but he had taken it surprisingly well.

I didnt say I support you both; I need to go home and see if hes truly reliable. Ask him to buck up. If Im dissatisfied, Ill make him leave!

Okay, come home quickly then. Ill wait for your decision. Renee smiled, and ended the call.

On the other end of the line, Quinton sighed. There was still a lot of preparation that needed to be done. He had to find the capsized ship first to have enough power for the upcoming battle.

After Renee put the phone away, the room was silent. Renee could not see Stefans expression, so she asked hesitantly,

Stefan, are you upset? She knew that Quintons words were quite provocative, and it might have bruised Stefans ego.

Yes, Im a little unhappy, Stefan confessed with a downcast voice.

Well, Ill apologize on Quintons behalf. He can be stubborn at times, and he doesnt know our situation. He shouldnt have doubted you.

Thats not why Im unhappy. Stefan sounded aggrieved.

Huh? Whats the reason then?

Since Im your servant, I should always be near you so I can protect you so why do I have to sleep in the backyard? I cant bear to leave you! Stefan complained.

He had been wanting to ask her about this for a while now because he didnt want to miss the opportunity to sleep with her in his arms. Since she was feeling bad for him now, thanks to Quinton, it was the perfect opportunity to ask about it.

Renee instantly knew what Stefan wanted, and said bluntly, "No way!

Defeated, Stefan went to rest in the storeroom in the backyard alone, yearning for Renee. The minute he entered the room, his mind went back to the strange sketch of his mother that he saw, and he decided to search the room to find clues. After all, if something had happened between Renees father and Stefans mother

Renee and Stefan might actually be siblings.

After locking the door of the workroom, he checked the books on the bookshelf until he found something that looked like a diary.

He picked it up and found that it was locked. It seemed inappropriate to take a peek at his father- in-laws diary, but at last, his curiosity won out. Generally, people used the birthdays of their loved ones as passwords, so Stefan tried Renees father, mother, and her birthday, but the lock did not open.

Could it be my mothers birthday? At the thought of it, anxiety overwhelmed him. If the password was his mothers birthday, the possibility of him and Renee being siblings would be much higher.

Francines birthday was the 31st of March, and she was a typical Aries. She always spoke her mind and had a bad temper, but she had a kind heart. Stefan tried keying in Francines birthday, and the diary unlocked.

Oh no His mind went blank, and he took a deep breath. His fingers were cold, but he forced himself to open the diary and read it.

[X month X Day. Its a sunny day, but Im feeling sad. Its been five years since I separated from Francine, and though I thought I had moved on, one gaze from her at the charity ball was enough to make my heart race. I cant calm my mind I know Im a terrible person-lve been blessed with a good wife and a cute daughter, but I just cant let this go. I guess that even if the sun is down, the moon cant be replaced.

Even if the sun was down, the moon couldnt be replaced? What did that mean? So Stefans father-in-law still thought about Francine even after getting married and having kids. Wasnt that considered an emotional affair? Stefan calmed himself down and kept on reading the diary. JrNovels.com
